My favourite k-dramas: why I love them so much
As I mentioned in a blog post last year I officially entered the Korean world and between k-pop and k-drama I will never leave it again. Since I love to share my passions on the blog, I couldn't help but tell you about my favorite Korean TV series. But first I want to immerse you in their world and make you understand why I love them so much!
Come vi avevo accennato in un blog post l'anno scorso sono ufficialmente entrata nel mondo coreano e tra k-pop e k-drama non ne uscirò più. Visto che amo condividere le mie passioni sul blog non potevo non parlarvi delle mie serie tv coreane preferite. Ma prima voglio farvi immergere nel loro mondo e farvi capire perché le amo così tanto!
Forget the classic romantic comedy
Korean dramas can be of various genres. I usually watch the romantic ones and you can forget the kind of romantic TV series you have in mind, these are completely different. I'm not a big fan of cheesy, overly romantic, and cliché movies or TV series. Korean TV series take time - usually each episode lasts around 1 hour and has an average of 16 episodes. And don't expect the main characters to fall in love and kiss after the first 5 minutes. In k-dramas after 10 episodes, they hold hands. It seems strange from our point of view but when you start learning their way of doing it you get excited every single moment. It almost seems that they make us appreciate the small romantic gestures that we often take for granted when watching American TV series.
I drama coreani sono molteplici e possono di essere di svariati generi. Io solitamente guardo quelli romantici e potete dimenticare il genere di serie tv romantiche che avete in mente, queste sono completamente diverse. Io non sono una grand fan di film o serie tv stucchevoli, esageratamente romantiche e pieni di cliché. Le serie tv coreane richiedono tempo - di solito ogni puntata dura 1h circa e hanno une media di 16 episodi. E non aspettatevi che i protagonisti dopo i primi 5 minuti si innamorino e si bacino. Qui al massimo dopo 10 si tengono per mano. La cosa sembra strano da un nostro punto di vista ma quando inizi ad imparare il loro modo di fare ti emozioni ad ogni singolo istante. Sembra quasi che ci facciano apprezzare i piccoli gesti romantici che spesso guardando serie tv americane diamo ormai per scontato.
They're good actors
I'm honest, although I'm Italian I admit it without problems: Italian actors don't know how to act. Many of you will blame me - sorry! - but I can't watch any Italian movies or TV series. I don't find them exciting, real, they don't know how to act or have a decent dialogue. As well as Spanish actors. They have a way of acting that I don't like. Koreans are on another level. My boyfriend has also become a k-drama fan and he admits it too: they are really great actors. And although obviously, we are unable to understand anything except a few words, they are truly spectacular. And please, look at them in the original language that makes the difference! On Netflix you can find them subtitled in Italian or English.
Sono sincera, nonostante io sia italiana lo ammetto senza problemi: gli attori italiani non sanno recitare. Molti di voi mi daranno torto - scusate! - ma io non riesco a guardare nessun film o serie tv italiana. Non li trovo emozionanti, reali, non sanno minimamente recitare o tenere un dialogo decente. Così come non me ne vogliano gli spagnoli. Hanno un modo di recitare che a me non piace minimamente. I coreani sono ad un livello spaziale. Anche il mio ragazzo è diventato fan dei kdrama e lo ammette anche lui: sono davvero dei bravissimi attori. E nonostante ovviamente non siamo in grado di capire nulla tranne qualche parola sono davvero spettacolari. E mi raccomando, guardateli in lingua originale che fa la differenza! Su Netflix li trovate sottotitolati in italiano o in inglese.
My top 5 k-dramas
Many of you have seen Squid Game and you may have enjoyed it too, huh? 😉 I personally liked it very much and I'm happy that it became so popular so much. Thus it was able to reach many people and introduce them to the magical Korean world. Personally, each person has to start with the best k-drama ever: Crash Landing On You. Even now I haven't found a series that came close. My boyfriend hasn't seen it so I think I'm going to watch it again for the second time with him! Really really wonderful. The actors, the plot, the difference in cultures between North and South Korea. It's wonderful to be able to enter their everyday life and see the cultural aspects. Here is my top 5:
Molti di voi avranno visto Squid Game e magari vi è pure piaciuto, ah? 😉 Personalmente è piaciuto davvero molto e sono felice che abbia spopolato così tanto. Così è potuto arrivare a molte più persone e far conoscere loro il magico mondo coreano. Personalmente ogni persona deve iniziare con il k-drama più bello di sempre: Crash Landing On You. Ancora adesso non ho trovato una serie che ci andasse vicina. Il mio ragazzo non l'ha vista quindi penso proprio di riguardarmela per la seconda volta insieme a lui! Davvero davvero stupenda. Gli attori, la trama, la differenza di culture tra la Corea del Nord e del Sud. È bellissimo poter entrare poi nella loro quotidianità e vedere gli aspetti culturali. Ecco qui la mia top 5:

Because of your recommendation, I think I might finally watch It's Ok To Not Be Ok! I'm not a huge K-Drama watcher but I just finished All Of Us Are Dead and I freaking loved it. There's also one upcoming series that I'm excited to watch called Love and Leashes. :)
ReplyDeletePS. Don't hate me but I don't think Italian dramas are bad. That or I'm just biased hahaha! So far the ones I watched were okay. The last Italian show I watched was Guida astrologica per cuori infranti and I finished all episodes in one day and I'm looking forward to season 2. But I understand how you feel because that's also how I feel towards Filipino movies and tv shows. There are a few that I can watch but generally I don't really vibe with them the same way I vibe with foreign content. :)
